Support Our Animal Ambassadors

Why are Animal Ambassadors important?

Animal Ambassadors help support education and conservation goals through awareness and personal connections to animals and nature. They provide opportunities to meet local wildlife up close which can spark a life-long interest in animals and environmental causes.

What does it mean to support our Animal Ambassadors?

Supporting our Animal Ambassadors means helping Strawberry Hill provide food, equipment, enrichment and training so that our Animal Ambassadors thrive. Your donation helps us care for the Ambassadors who educate our community by providing training and enrichment for each animal. Likewise, support helps us provide housing, food, and veterinary care.

What will I receive as part of my support?

A thank-you for your donation and your name or company will be listed on our sponsorship web page.

Ollie - Our Striped Skunk

Ollie is a striped skunk who loves insects, veggies, and snuggling up on a soft blanket. Most of all, he loves teaching kids about the important role skunks play in the local ecosystem and what makes skunks so special!

Strix - Our Barred Owl

Strix is a barred owl who enjoys mice and "talking" to other owls behind our office. His favorite thing about being an Animal Ambassador is teaching kids about his eyesight. Strix has 3-D, or "binocular" vision, similar to humans!

Shelly - Our Spotted Turtle

Shelly is a spotted turtle whose family is becoming quite rare in the wild. She’s passionate about educating the public on things like habitat loss, waterway pollution, and wild animal advocacy. Shelly also enjoys going to storytime events and listening along with the kids!

Todd - Our American Toad

Todd is an American toad who loves to burrow. When he isn’t curled up under a warm layer of soil and wood chips, Todd is on the road, dispelling myths about his kind. Warts? No way!

Candy Corn - Our Albino Milk Snake

Candy Corn is a gentle milk snake with albinism who loves to show off her beautiful colors. Candy Corn’s favorite topics to teach are aposematic coloration and animal health & wellness. When not out “teaching,” she enjoys burrowing under her wood shavings in her habitat!

Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches

Our Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches are great teaching examples of insects due to their large size. They can grow up to three or more inches. However, they are quite gentle as they do not bite or sting. And, as their name implies, they make hissing sounds from tiny spiracles found on their abdomen - so cool!
