Mother Nature's Child - film viewing
Friday, January 20 2012, 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Mother Nature's Child -- film viewing, 7:00 - 9:00pm - Ragged Edge Coffee House, Gettysburg, PA

Growing Outdoors in the Media Age

We thank the Ragged Edge Coffee House for graciously opening their doors to us to show this very important film!

For thousands of years human beings evolved in the natural world, and until only a generation ago, our children played freely outdoors.  In a single generation, contemporary culture has undergone drastic change, forcing children indoors, where, increasingly, they exhibit symptoms of "nature deficit":  obesity, depression, and attention disorders.

Mother Nature's Child explores the essential ways contact with the natural world promotes children's health and well-being, contributes to the future of the planet, and nourishes the human spirit.

The film includes interviews with Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods, tracker Jon Young; authors Stephen Kellert and David Sobel; Nancy Bell of The Conservation Fund; outdoor educators Brother Yusuf Burgess, Misha Golfman and Amy Beam; parents and teachers.

Location : Ragged Edge Coffee Shop - Gettysburg, PA
