Meet the Staff
Chuck Reid, Executive Director
Chuck came to Strawberry Hill after 10 years in local, county, and state government protecting open space and developing community recreational services and amenities. Prior to being appointed Director for Strawberry Hill, Chuck worked on developing Adams County's Greenway and Open Space Plan and was employed in the PA Department of Natural Resources' Community Partnership Division. In 2003 as Director for the Stroud Region Open Space and Recreation Commission, Chuck helped to establish the first regional recreation commission in Monroe County, PA.
Chuck obtained his Masters in Public Administration from Virginia Tech and his Bachelors focusing on Outdoor Recreation and Experiential Education from Penn State. While attending Penn State, he was involved with managing the Penn State Outdoor Club and helped to provide environmental education programs at Shaver's Creek Environmental Center.
An avid outdoor enthusiast, Chuck enjoys mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, snowboarding, and mountaineering. He has climbed and hiked in Denali, AK, the Tetons, WY, the Rockies, CO, the White Mountains, NH, Sierra Nevada's, CA, and many sections of the Appalachian Trail.
Eddy Rubin, Education Coordinator
Eddy has been working in the field of environmental education for over 15 years. Eddy has been the Environmental Education Coordinator at Strawberry Hill since 2002. Upon arriving at Strawberry Hill, Eddy rewrote the standards for Strawberry Hill's educational courses to meet Pennsylvania's Board of Education criteria. Since Eddy's arrivial at Strawberry Hill enrolment in our educational programs has increased to average over 5,000 school children annually.
Living on the grounds of Strawberry Hill, Eddy spends much of his free time roaming the trails of the Preserve. He has also worked as a professional singer/songwriter/musician and as a yoga teacher.
Joe Hallinan, Programs Coordinator
Joe is the Programs Coordinator and although he is an Adams County native, born and raised, he is the newest addition to the staff as of January 2009. Joe studied Recreation and Leisure Services Management at East Stroudsburg University in the Poconos and has been involved with numerous outdoor recreation organizations including Liberty Mountain, Shawnee Mountain, Stony Acres, and Stratton Mountain.
Joe enjoys outdoor recreation in all the seasons; hiking, biking, snowboarding, longboarding, camping and climbing - to be active outdoors while enjoying nature are his favorite activities.
Jane Jones, Office Manager
Jane Jones has lived in Adams County for 10 years. She joined the staff of Strawberry Hill in June 2008 as Office Manager. Jane is chiefly responsible for the Preserve's financial and membership information,...and keeping the boys in line.
With her love of animals and nature, Jane enjoys being able to step out of the office and into the woods to hike the trails with her Pomeranian sidekick Kiki.
