SH Committees
2011 Committees – where we need help!
Special Events/Programs - This committee will work closely with SH staff and the Volunteer Coordinator planning, organizing, and promoting special events and activities. Special Events include but are not limited to Live Green Festival, National Trails Day, Auction Dinner, Twisted Turkey Trail Run, South Mountain Promotions, Annual Membership Meeting, Halloween, and Maple Sugaring.
Communications/Outreach - is responsible for ongoing public communications/public relations including updating the website, updating/manning tables at various expos, contributing to the member newsletter, and postcard coordination.
Education - is responsible for providing input to new educational programs, reviewing ongoing educational programs and providing input when necessary. In addition the committee helps to recruit and train part-time instructors.
Facilities - is responsible for recommending major repairs, renovations, and proposed construction. The committee provides counsel on the maintenance of the campus, and for long range planning involving building and grounds.
Natural Resources -is responsible overseeing management and stewardship of the Preserve’s natural resources; to include invasive control, water testing and management, riparian buffer management, and woodland management.
Membership - Responsible for creating and implementing recruitment and retention programs to increase and maintain membership.
Volunteer - Responsible for coordinating volunteers for SHNP programs and special events, maintaining volunteer records, and establishing/maintaining a volunteer appreciation program
