2008 Junior Naturalist Camps
are perfect for young explorers, hikers, and nature lovers!

Come to Strawberry Hill this summer and make a few new friends, including snakes, turtles, and toads! With 609 acres of scenic woodland filled with wildlife, Strawberry Hill is the perfect setting to explore nature.

Strawberry Hill’s Junior Naturalist Camps are packed with fun, educational activities that build on a child’s sense of wonder. Through an assortment of hands-on activities, including hiking, bird watching, games, and crafts, campers will learn about the animals, plants, and landscape found at Strawberry Hill and in the world beyond.

Some featured activities will include:
Singing nature songs
Wading through pristine mountain streams
Gathering animal specimens in the pond and on land
Examining specimens on “Bug TV,” a microprojector connected to a television
Seeing live animal presentations
Doing yoga for kids
Conducting geological exploration of a mineral quarry
Watching a nature puppet show
Playing nature parachute games
Taking exploration hikes to some of Strawberry Hill’s beautiful hidden places.

Each camp will be led by Mr. Eddy and his assistants. Mr. Eddy has been our Environmental Education Coordinator since 2001 and has worked as a professional environmental educator for more than 15 years.

New this year will be visits by special guests, such as a geology expert, an authority on snakes, and local artists and craftspeople. Given our small class size (limited to 10 students in the youngest age group and 12 students in the other groups), each camper receives personal attention and participates actively.

Since our natural surroundings change throughout the summer season, consider registering your child for more than one Strawberry Hill Junior Naturalist Camp.

To register for Junior Naturalist Camp, please call Eddy Rubin at (717) 642-5840 or e-mail eddy@strawberryhill.org.
